Winnipeg man accused of accessing child pornography

Winnipeg police say a 30-year-old man has been charged with child pornography offences.

The Winnipeg Police Service says its Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) was alerted to child sexual abuse imagery this month.

An investigation led to one man being taken into custody near Hargrave Street and Donald Avenue around 12:21 a.m. on Wednesday.

Police say while the man was in custody, officers seized his cell phone, and they allegedly found child sexual abuse material. This led to a search of his home, where additional electronics were also seized.

Matthew De Paz has been charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography, and voyeurism.

De Paz has been released with conditions prohibiting him from accessing the internet and contact with anyone under 18.
