About one in seven young Canadians are regular vape users, Statistics Canada says

By The Canadian Press

A new Statistics Canada study suggests that roughly one in seven young Canadians are regular vape users.

The agency finds that 14 per cent of teenagers aged 15 to 19 reported vaping in the past 30 days in 2020, and the rate among young adults aged 20 to 24 was 13 per cent.

The data indicates that only three per cent of adults aged 25 or older say they used e-cigarettes within the last month.

The report, released today, reinforces signs of a generational divide in nicotine consumption habits.

Researchers say approximately one in 10 Canadians are regular cigarette smokers, compared to three per cent of youth aged 15 to 19.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published March 17, 2021.
