12 more deaths, 243 new COVID cases in Manitoba on Sunday

WINNIPEG – Manitoba has identified 243 new cases of COVID-19 and is reporting 12 new deaths on Sunday.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 229 COVID-19 deaths in the province.
There are 228 people with COVID-19 in hospital in Manitoba, 52 of which are in intensive care.
The province’s chief public health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, continues to urge residents to only leave their homes for essential purposes.

Manitoba’s health minister says the province should be given priority from the federal government for new COVID-19 rapid testing equipment.
Cameron Friesen told delegates via video conference at the Progressive Conservative annual general meeting on Saturday that Ottawa should make sure Manitoba is at the front of the line because it has so many COVID-19 cases.
The province has, for weeks, recorded the highest per-capita rate of new infections in Canada.
