WINNIPEG (CityNews) – Eishia Hudson was killed after a police pursuit in Winnipeg Wednesday night.
“I’m lost, still waiting for her to come home.”

Her mother, Christie Zebrasky, is now speaking out and wants to share the story of who her daughter was.
“Eishia didn’t deserve to die.”
Zebrasky said her daughter loved to play sports, particularly hockey. She loved to cheer on the Winnipeg Jets and always begged her mom to get her tickets. “Her favourite player, Byfuglien. She would always say look mom he’s fighting, he’s fighting.”
Zebrasky says her daughter left the house Wednesday morning, telling her mom she was hanging out with friends. She said this was the last conversation they had.
“Nobody had answers for me until IIU came here at 11:50 that night and told me that my daughter Eishia is dead,” Zebrasky said.
Winnipeg police said Thursday the pursuit started after a group of teens robbed a Sage Creek liquor mart and rammed other cars, including a police cruiser. They also said it was unclear if the teens were armed.

Eishia would have turned 17 in June. Her mother said she was supposed to graduate next year and was trying to get her driver’s license. “She can drive mom around and go pick up her nieces and nephew and take them to the beach. She had plans.”
Zebrasky remembered Eishia’s knack for making those around her happy.
“She was loved by everybody, she had a huge heart, she was full of life.”
Now, the family is trying to plan a funeral in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Zebrasky said Eishia had a lot of friends and a big family, which was making it harder to plan the funeral. “It’s going to be a huge service, but it’s going to be rotated between 10 people as the rules are whatever it is.”
Zebrasky added they are going to have a viewing, but it’ll be over a period of 72 hours to follow physical distancing.
