Manitoba woman accused of forging doctor’s note to postpone sentencing hearing

Mounties in southern Manitoba say a woman was rearrested this week and accused of submitting a forged doctor’s note to court.
RCMP say officers received a report Monday about a woman facing sentencing in Dauphin court who submitted a doctor’s note indicating she was unable to attend after being seriously injured in a car crash.
Police say the note stated the collision happened July 22 and that it was submitted by her lawyer.
The sentencing hearing set for Wednesday on a theft charge was adjourned to a later date.
A court official contacted RCMP and an investigation found the doctor’s note was a forgery.
RCMP say a review of police files found no reports had been made involving the suspect being in a collision on that date in Manitoba or any other province.
A 42-year-old woman of Grandview, Man., has been charged obstructing justice, forgery and uttering a forged document.
