Search for answers continues 5 years after Rico Linklater’s disappearance on northern Manitoba First Nation

Authorities say the investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Rico Linklater exactly five years ago “remains very much ongoing.”

Linklater was last seen in the early hours of Oct. 21, 2021, on Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation.

The case quickly turned from a missing person to a homicide investigation, after police say they gathered evidence suggesting foul play.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services and Nisichawayasihk RCMP are still investigating.

“Each time our team of investigators travels to the community, we continue to conduct interviews and follow up on any leads that come in,” said Sgt. Brian White. “This was a 22-year-old young man that did not return home to his family, and tragically, was the victim of a homicide.”

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call 204-484-2837.

“Any little piece of information may assist us in being able to provide answers to Rico’s family,” said Sgt. White.

The Manitoba RCMP major crime services is planning another visit to Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation “in the near future.”
