1950s training grenade pulled from water in Selkirk: RCMP

Manitoba RCMP is investigating after a grenade was found at the Waterfront in Selkirk.
Mounties responded to the Waterfront around 3:05 p.m. on Aug. 6, after receiving a report that a possible grenade hadbeen found.
Officers learned that a man who had been fishing had hooked the grenade and had removed it from the water.
Following this, RCMP asked for assistance from the Canadian Armed Forces, who analyzed the item and determined it to be a training grenade from the 1950’s.
It was also determined that no safety pin was attached, and that it was safe to be transported back to a facility for disposal.
