Alberta man goes missing in northern Manitoba river: RCMP

Manitoba RCMP say a man from Alberta has gone missing and is believed to have drowned while fishing in Kelsey, Manitoba — just northeast of Thompson.
Mounties responded to a report around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 that a man had gone missing and had not been seen since around 5:30 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that 60-year-old James Redmond from Alberta had gone fishing from the shore of the Nelson River.
A search along the shoreline near his cabin uncovered some of his gear, roughly 200 metres upstream from the dam at Kelsey Generating Station. Police believe it may be where Redmond entered the river.
Drones and a diving team were called in to assist with the search for Redmond, and an investigation is ongoing.
