Winnipeggers come together for third annual Khalsa Aid Walk

Winnipeggers gathered Saturday morning in Assiniboine Park for the third annual Khalsa Aid Walk.

By walking 10 kilometres, participants contributed to raising funds for Victoria Hospital Foundation and Seven Oaks Hospital.

Organizers say it is a great way to give back to the community.

“These days, our institutions struggle a bit, and it’s up to us to do whatever we can to strengthen these institutions. Because they are so important to everyone here,” said Varinder Kaur Ghuman, lead for the Manitoba Chapter of Khalsa Aid Canada.

This year, over 200 people joined the walk and raised $35,000.

Organizers and community leaders say it means a lot to see people stepping up to raise money for a good cause.

“We are trying to accomplish a goal today, and when folks come together, government toartners, Khalsa Aid, and the community at large, we can accomplish great things when folks come together,” said Councillor Devi Sharma.
