5 injured in head-on collision on Highway 3: Manitoba RCMP

Manitoba RCMP say five people were injured in a collision along Highway 3, just south of Sanford — around 25 km southeast of Winnipeg — on Friday.

Emergency crews responded immediately following the report, and when they arrived at the scene, they learned that a vehicle that was heading north on the highway had swerved all over the road before colliding head-on with a vehicle that was traveling south.

A 52-year-old man who was driving the southbound vehicle was treated for minor, non-life-threatening injuries. His two 14-year-old daughters, who were passengers in the vehicle, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They remain in hospital.

Both the driver — a 25-year-old man — and the passenger — a 19-year-old woman — of the northbound vehicle were also taken to hospital in critical condition. RCMP notes they are still in critical condition.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
