Man facing murder charge after body found in burnt-out vehicle near Winnipeg rail yard

Winnipeg police have charged a man with second-degree murder after a man was found dead in a burnt-out vehicle near the Canadian Pacific Kansas City rail yard last week.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Vincent Morrissette, 57, was found dead in the vehicle on Jarvis Avenue on March 13 around 1:50 p.m.

Investigators believe Morrissette and the accused got into a physical altercation a few blocks away on Salter Street, before the vehicle was set on fire.

On Sunday, police arrested 32-year-old Fabian Gerald Michelle on Salter Street. He was charged the following day with second-degree murder and was detained in custody. The allegation against him has not been tested in court.

The homicide unit is still investigating.
