Over 700 breast cancer screening appointments booked after Manitoba lowers age of eligibility

More than 700 breast cancer screening appointments were booked in the first two months since the age of eligibility was lowered, the province has announced.

Over 36,000 women get free menopause treatment, and more than 55,000 women are accessing free birth control, since the provincial program was launched in October 2024.

The provincial government says that a new community-based clinic is currently in development, and further details on it can be expected in the coming weeks.

Funding for abortion services was increased in the province, and buffer zone legislation now protects patients and providers from harassment and intimidation, Manitoba government reports.
