Winnipeg police arrest man in bank robbery case

Winnipeg police (WPS) said it arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a bank robbery on Friday.
WPS received a 911 just after 3:00 p.m. about a robbery at a bank on the 200 block of Portage Avenue.
“A man entered a bank and provided a written note to a front teller indicating that he had a weapon and demanded money,” WPS said in a statement.
The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money which he then fled with.
Police say no weapons were seen during the incident. No injuries were reported.
WPS officers arrested Jonathan Fontaine around 4:00 p.m. on a transit bus which stopped nearby for his alleged involvement. They didn’t find any weapon on him.
Fontaine has been charged with robbery.
