Man charged after random assault near Canada Life Centre over weekend

Winnipeg police say a 31-year-old man has been charged with allegedly assaulting a woman over the weekend.

WPS says around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 4, patrol officers reportedly noticed a man physically assaulting a woman and knocking her to the ground near Portage Avenue and Donald Street.

The officers were able to intervene and stop the alleged incident, and took the man into custody. Police note that a conductive energy weapon was used on the man.

The woman reportedly suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Police believe the incident was random and unprovoked.

Since, 31-year-old Jacob George has been charged with assault.
