Murder charge laid in Blake Street homicide investigation

Winnipeg police say a 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a man at an apartment complex on Blake Street earlier this month.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers found the body of 56-year-old Christopher Brown on the afternoon of on Dec. 20.

The WPS homicide unit took charge of the investigation and identified a suspect, who was arrested Christmas morning around 3:45 a.m. in Long Plains First Nation by the Manitoba First Nations Police.

The suspect was transported to Winnipeg and turned over to Winnipeg police.

Christian Meeches has been charged with second-degree murder and remains in custody. The allegation has not been tested in court.
