Winnipeg police (WPS) say they arrested two suspects in connection with an assault and robbery of a 19-year-old man Wednesday evening.
According to WPS, the alleged incident took place when the victim was walking along Furby Street. He was approached by the suspects between Cornish Avenue and Wolseley Avenue who asked him for a cigarette.
“The victim was thrown to the ground, assaulted, and his cell phone was stolen,” WPS said in a press release Thursday. “He sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault.”
The police said they used security camera footage to track down the suspects to a residence, in the 0-99 block of Furby Street, and arrested them.
The suspects — 23-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man — face robbery charges and were released on an undertaking.
