The video captures the moment a vehicle crashes into the window of a Winnipeg business, before it backs up and flees the scene.
Sage Rhys was the one to walk in on broken glass early Saturday morning. He works at the gym and spoke on behalf of the owner.
“I arrived on the scene about 8 a.m., and I noticed that there was a big hole in the wall right here,” said Rhys.
“Fortunately, we had a potted planter that actually saved the gym, and the worst that happened is some glass broke, the wall got pushed in, and, fortunately, no one was hurt.”
The crash happened around 4 in the morning. At the time, the 24-hour gym was empty, and no one was injured.
CityNews reached out to Winnipeg police, but we did not hear back.
At the moment, insurance is assessing the damage to the business.
“It doesn’t seem to be as bad as it looks, fortunately. I think we are going to be out of a window for a couple of weeks, and insurance will take care of the rest, and we’ll be up and running in a couple of weeks,” said Rhys.
Rhys says the owner is keeping his chin up, all thanks to the community for their support.
“It was just funny. Like Murphy’s Law to us. It’s just part of life.”
