Family pleads for answers five months after disappearance of 24-Year-Old Troy Gilbert Saultier

It’s been more than five months since Troy Gilbert Saultier went missing. Since that day, there’s been no confirmed sightings, no phone calls, only questions that the family wants answered. Mitchell Ringos reports.

More than five months have passed since 24-year-old Troy Gilbert Saultier was last seen leaving a home in Thompson on May 11. Since that day, there have been no confirmed sightings, no phone calls, only questions.

The family of Troy Gilbert Saultier continues to search for answers following his disappearance.

“I just want my son back please just tell us where he is, please tell us where he is at, I want to put my baby to rest,” said Carla Saultier, Troy’s mother. “He would call my son wouldn’t do that; my son wouldn’t do that, I know him that’s my baby I raised him for 24 years.”

His family says every day without answers feels unbearable. They believe that despite his legal troubles, he would have reached out if he were able to.

“There’s got to be closure, that’s what helps with healing, but if its 11 years down the line imagine yourself in there,” said Chief Shirley Ducharme, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation.

RCMP confirm that Saultier is wanted on multiple charges, including sexual assault, break and enter, uttering threats, and several breaches of release orders. But his family insists those charges don’t explain his disappearance.

“We know for a fact he’s not out there living somewhere getting taken care of, he’s out there in a field in a wooded field buried,” said Dwight Saultier Jr., Troy’s brother.

Chief and council are renewing their plea for answers, saying too many Indigenous men and boys are overlooked.

“Troy is a loved man he’s an uncle, a brother, and if anyone has answers please even if its anonymous tell us where he is or if you know anything about the night, he went missing let us know,” said Rita Thomas, councillor, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation.
