Main Street Project running 8th annual Socktober campaign for those in need

With winter right around the corner, the Main Street Project has launched its eighth annual Socktober campaign, asking for the public’s help in collecting 30,000 pairs of new donated socks during the month.

According to the organization, many of the folks they see spend a lot of time on their feet, often walking several hours a day in ill-fitting shoes, and they often don’t have access to a shower to clean their feet with the opportunity to change into clean, dry socks.

Being exposed to the elements can cause frostbite. In severe cases, foot health issues can lead to serious illness and amputation.

More information on how to donate can be found by visiting their website.
