Winnipeg police investigate serious assault, two suspects identified

Authorities are investigating a serious assault that left a man in his 30’s severely injured, with police confirming they have identified two individuals in connection with the attack.

Investigators determined on August 27, around 8:15 p.m., a group was hanging out in a parking lot in the 700 block of Maryland Street.

The victim walked over and joined them, after sitting for a while, an altercation started and one of the men pointed a handgun at the victim. He tried to fight back but was overtaken by the group and repeatedly stabbed. As the suspects fled, the victim was robbed of his property.

Officials say on August 28th, a 35-year-old man, Everett Vaughn Peters, and a 35-year-old woman, Brittany Michelle Fiddler, were charged with robbery and aggravated assault.

On Sept. 5th, a 23-year-old man, Wesley Samual Francois was arrested in the 400 block of Agnes Street. On Sept. 7th, police attended the Provincial Remand Centre and arrested a 40-year-old man, Harold William Meekis, who was already in custody on an unrelated matter.Both were charged with robbery and aggravated assault.

Police says no firearm was recovered.
