Manitoba RCMP say one person is in hospital following a multi-vehicle collision on the North Perimeter Highway, just east of the intersection with Pipeline Road, in the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul.
Mounties responded to the collision around 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 15.
It is believed that a dump truck was traveling west when it approached the intersection, when it collided into the rear of several vehicles that were waiting at the traffic lights.
Mounties say that as a result of the collision, one driver — a 46-year-old man — from Winnipeg was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other two drivers involved — men aged 35 and 45 — also from Winnipeg, were not injured.
RCMP say the driver of the dump truck — a 65-year-old man — also from Winnipeg, failed a roadside screening device and was taken into custody. Once in custody, he reportedly refused to provide a breath sample.
The 65-year-old is facing numerous driving-related offences, his licence has been suspended and the vehicle he was driving has been seized for a mechanical inspection.
