Suspect turns himself in after alleged ‘targeted’ murder of 23-year-old man on First Nation northwest of Winnipeg

Manitoba RCMP say a 32-year-old man charged with second-degree murder in a homicide investigation on a First Nation northwest of Winnipeg has turned himself in to police.

Authorities say a 23-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound Sunday evening in Waywayseecappo First Nation, after officers with the Manitoba First Nation Police Service received a report of a shooting around 6:15 p.m.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries.

The Manitoba RCMP major crime services took over the investigation and identified a suspect – Ferlin Bone – who they say fled a home in a red SUV after the alleged shooting.

Police say the accused and suspect knew each other, and they believe the alleged shooting was targeted.

Mounties say Bone turned himself in to Manitoba First Nations Police on Wednesday afternoon and is in custody

Waywayseecappo First Nation is about 315 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
