Man in custody for allegedly stealing e-scooter from teen

Winnipeg police say a man is in custody after allegedly robbing a teenager in June.

WPS says around 3:30 p.m. on June 10, a 16-year-old was selling his electric scooter near Springfield Road and Pendelton Road.

It is believed that the teen was meeting with a man, who examined the scooter, before allegedly pulling out a gun and fleeing with the scooter.

The incident was reported to police, and through an investigation, officers were able to identify a suspect believed to be involved.

Just before 7 a.m. on Aug. 8, officers took Simon Bahati into custody in a home along Manitoba Avenue.

Bahati is facing charges of armed robbery using a firearm.
