City warning residents of unpaid parking ticket scam

The City of Winnipeg is sounding the alarm about a new scam that targets residents by sending them text messages impersonating the Winnipeg Parking Authority.

While the agency itself does not send out text messages, the collection agency CBV Collection Services does send them to remind those with outstanding fines to pay them. The actual texts may contain links for payments, and they always direct the recipient to call WPG311 to validate.

Anyone who is unsure of the validity of a text they received should contact 311. If you believe you are a victim of a fraud or a scam, it’s important to report it.
