2 teens allegedly escape from Manitoba Youth Centre

Winnipeg police say two teens are facing charges after allegedly escaping from the Manitoba Youth Centre.

The WPS says around 7:17 p.m. on Saturday, two 16-year-olds reportedly managed to leave the facility, and met with a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old who were waiting in a nearby vehicle.

Police were notified of the escape and just before midnight, located the two 16-year-olds and the 18-year-old at a house on Flora Avenue.

The 18-year-old was taken into custody without incident; however, the two 16-year-olds tried to flee on foot before they were taken into custody a short time later.

The 17-year-old was reportedly taken into custody just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at a home on North Point Boulevard.

The two 16-year-olds have been charged with escaping lawful custody. One was also charged with being unlawfully at large.

The 17-year-old and 18-year-old are reportedly facing charges of rescue or permitting escape.
