Man accused of having gun, cocaine at Winnipeg shopping mall

Winnipeg police say a 35-year-old man has been charged after allegedly being seen with a gun at a mall.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Monday around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a shopping centre after a store employee told security they allegedly saw a man placing a gun into a satchel.

Security alerted police and kept an eye on the man until officers arrived.

When officers were at the mall, they took a man into custody. Police say they seized a handgun, a knife, and 2.59 grams of cocaine.

Benjamin Patrick Sinclair, 35, has been charged with five firearms and drug-related charges. The charges have not been tested in court.
