Man charged in alleged sexual assault in Winnipeg

A 29-year-old man from Saskatchewan has been charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred in Windsor Park during the early hours of Saturday.
According to Winnipeg Police, a woman was waiting outside an establishment around 12:45 a.m. when an unknown man exited the same building and allegedly approached her. Police say the man led the woman to a nearby area of bushes where the assault is believed to have taken place.
After the suspect fled, the woman screamed for help until a passerby came to her aid and called 911. She was transported to hospital for medical treatment.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the area and were able to identify and arrest the suspect later that evening.
Miguel Villa Ramirez, 29, of Saskatchewan, has been charged with assault. Police also confirmed that he had an outstanding warrant with the Canada Border Services Agency. He remains in custody.
The investigation is ongoing.
