11-year-old boy killed in ATV rollover in northern Manitoba

Police say an 11-year-old boy is dead after an off-road vehicle he was riding on rolled over early Thursday morning.

Lynn Lake RCMP say the accident happened on the Marcel Colomb First Nation.

They say the ATV was being driven by a 13-year-old boy, who was travelling on Main Road when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled. He was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The 11-year-old passenger was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police believe speed was a factor, and they say neither boy was wearing a helmet.

Authorities say it took “some time” between the rollover and the call for assistance.
