Winnipeg Central Park stabbing: One arrested

On Thursday evening, Winnipeg police responded to the Central Park area near Qu’Appelle Avenue after a 27-year-old woman was stabbed by an acquaintance following a verbal dispute.

The woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition and was later upgraded to stable, though she remains hospitalized.

According to the WPS, the suspect, a 29-year-old woman, approached the victim in Central Park around 7:15 p.m. The incident began as a verbal argument and escalated when the suspect repeatedly punched and stabbed the victim with a knife, causing serious injuries. The suspect fled the scene but was arrested nearby 20 minutes later.

She is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and failure to comply with probation and release orders. She was also charged with identity fraud after providing officers with a false name.

She remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
