Sea Bears donating 800 tickets to wildfire evacuees

By CityNews Staff

The Winnipeg Sea Bears are donating 800 tickets to their Father’s Day game this Sunday to Mantiobans who have been displaced by wildfires.

The Sea Bears and True North Sports + Entertainment are partnering with the Canadian Red Cross and the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs to issue the complimentary tickets, in an effort to try and provide some joy to those facing uncertainty.

“Basketball has a unique way of bringing people together, and we hope this small gesture offers evacuees a bit of comfort and fun during a challenging time,” said President Jason Smith in a statement.

“We’re grateful to all of our partners who helped make this possible,” said Smith. “This is what community is about, standing together in difficult times and doing what you can to help.

The Sea Bears will be playing the Saskatchewan Rattlers at Canada Life Centre at 2 p.m. on June 15.
