While wildfires continue to burn in Manitoba, the government has determined it’s safe to reopen portions of Whiteshell Provincial Park.
As of Monday, the following roads have reopened:
- Highway 307, from Highway 11 (Sevens Sisters) to Betula Lake.
- Highway 301, from Highway 1 (Falcon Lake) to Highway 1 underpass (local traffic)
But as the threat has not passed entirely, the province says the following highways in the provincial park remain closed to all traffic due to fire conditions in the area:
- Highway 44, from Highway 1 (West Hawk Lake) to Rennie
- Highway 301, from Highway 1 underpass to PTH 44 (West Hawk)
- Highway 307, from Betula Lake to Highway 44 (Rennie)
Meanwhile more wildfire evacuees are being allowed back in the north part of Whiteshell Provincial Park.
The province ordered the evacuation of the park two weeks ago after a blaze near Ingolf, Ont., had crossed into Manitoba.
