Winnipeg man, 25, accused of sexually assaulting teenage girl

Winnipeg police have charged a 25-year-old man in a sexual assault case involving a teenage girl.

The accused allegedly befriended the teen between November and December 2023. The Winnipeg Police Service says he took the girl to a home near Graham Avenue and Vaughan Street, where he sexually assaulted her after providing her with drugs and alcohol.

The WPS Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU), which began investigating in February, says it identified a suspect.

Kibreab Berhe Gebrekidan, 25, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and for obtaining sexual services from a minor.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
