Over the next six weeks, 500 workers will be using more than 300 pieces of equipment to sweep Winnipeg’s entire street network.
Clean up teams will be working street by street to clean up road ways, bridges, sidewalks, pathways, alleys, boulevards and medians on major roads, as well as do litter pickup in public parks.
The workers typically don’t clean boulevards on residential streets but will clean those with excessive sand.
Those locations can be reported to 3-1-1 before June 1.
The city is scheduling active transportation routes to ensure they are ridable.
Winnipeggers are asked to watch for temporary no parking signage and to avoid parking on their street when it is scheduled for cleaning if possible.
Parking is illegal in these spots and vehicles parked in violation may be towed or receive a $150 ticket.
The annual yard waste program will follow spring cleanup, beginning the week of April 28th.
