Citywide spring cleanup begins Sunday in Winnipeg

Winnipeg’s annual spring cleanup kicks off this Sunday, with city crews set to sweep streets, bridges, sidewalks, parks, and other public spaces over the next six weeks.
The operation involves over 300 pieces of equipment and around 500 workers.
Active transportation routes will be cleaned first to ensure they’re safe and ridable.
Residents are urged to monitor their website or the “Know Your Zone” app to check cleaning schedules and temporary no parking zones. Vehicles parked in restricted areas could face a $150 ticket or be towed.
The city won’t clean all residential boulevards—only those with “excessive sand.” Reports of such areas can be submitted to 311 before June 1.
Yard waste collection begins April 28 in Area A and May 5 in Area B.
Residents are reminded not to rake debris onto streets. Yard waste should be placed in paper bags, cardboard boxes, or reusable containers without lids.
