A Manitoba man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a woman was killed in what police are describing as intimate partner violence.
The Winnipeg Police Service says 33-year-old Stephanie Anderson-Paupanekis died of her critical injuries after being taken to hospital Saturday morning.
Anderson-Paupanekis was a member of Norway House First Nation who moved to Winnipeg last year.
Officers were called to a home on Selkirk Avenue shortly after 3 a.m. for the report of a domestic-related assault. They arrived to find Anderson-Paupanekis with severe injuries, authorities say.
A man was located nearby and taken into custody.
Jason Matthew Keam, 40, was charged and detained in custody. Police say Keam was also a member of Norway House First Nation living in Winnipeg.
