Vacant house fire in Winnipeg leaves building unsalvageable

Just before 7 a.m. on Sunday, the Winnipeg fire paramedic service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant house in the 400 block of William Newton avenue.
Upon arrival crews saw heavy black smoke and flames coming from the house and attacked the fire from the outside as the building wasn’t safe to enter.
Crews also protected neighbouring houses from damage.
The fire was declared under control by 8:30 a.m., and no injuries were reported, but due to structural damage crews are arranging an emergency demolition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, as WFPS responded to a fire at this same location once in august 2024 and again in September 2024.
