Winnipeg police charge 2 more in 2023 homicide

Winnipeg police say two people more people have been charged in connection with the death of 20-year-old Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert on Dec. 30, 2023.

WPS says officers responded to a report that a man was dead near Flora Avenue and King Street.

Through an investigation, police learned that Hiebert had been fatally assaulted near Selkirk Avenue and King Street, before being moved where he was discovered.

Police previously took 36-year-old Christopher Kyle Wattman into custody on July 7, 2024, and he was charged with first-degree murder.

Through a continued investigation, police were able to identify two additional people who were believed to be involved.

On Oct. 15, 2024, Victoria Lee Andrews was taken into custody and was later charged with first-degree murder.

On Feb. 19, 2025, police took 37-year-old Hazel Flett was taken into custody and was later charged with first-degree murder.

WPS says all three ho were charged were believed to be acquaintances with Hiebert.
