Winnipeg police investigate homicide of northern Manitoba First Nation man

The death of a northern Manitoba First Nation man in Winnipeg Sunday is being investigated as a homicide.

The Winnipeg Police Service says officers responded shortly before 7 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive man who had been assaulted on Blake Street.

The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim was identified as Justin Boulanger, a 34-year-old member of Berens River First Nation who was living in Winnipeg.

The WPS homicide unit is investigating.
