Downtown Winnipeg restaurant previously damaged in suspected arson goes up in flames again

A downtown Winnipeg restaurant that was forced to close down last fall after a suspected arson was once again on fire Sunday evening.
Winnipeg firefighters were called to Boujee Restaurant and Bar, which has been vacant since an October 2025 blaze, around 5:38 p.m.
Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building on Main Street.
While the fire was declared under control at 9:40 p.m., crews remained on scene throughout the night to extinguish hotspots.
“The building sustained significant fire, smoke and water damage,” WFPS said in a news release.
No occupants were found inside the building, and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.
The restaurant was damaged by flames in October in what police have described as a string of arsons targeted various restaurants and the offices of two ministers’ offices.
A suspect was charged in November.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Services also responded to two fires along Stella Avenue on Sunday.
The first happened around 5 p.m., when crews responded to reports of a fire in a one-and-a-half-storey house near Arlington Street.
Firefighters could see heavy black smoke and flames coming from the home when they arrived at the scene. The fire was later brought under control at 6:21 p.m.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital in stable condition, and no other injuries were reported.
Fire crews later responded to another fire, about a block east, at a single-family bungalow.
When crews arrived, they could again see smoke and flames coming from the home and were able to declare it under control around 11:16 p.m.
One resident was assessed by paramedics at the scene, but was not taken to a hospital.
Lastly, WFPS also responded to a fire at a two-storey residence along Simcoe Street on Sunday.
Crews responded to the scene near Portage Avenue around 6:30 p.m., and could see smoke coming from the home.
Around 7:14 p.m., crews were able to declare the fire under control.
One firefighter was treated at the scene, but was not taken to a hospital.
The cause of all the fires are under investigation.
