Woman, 33, charged in death of Cree Nation man in Windsor Park
Winnipeg police say a 33-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal assault of a northern Manitoba Cree Nation man last month.
The Winnipeg Police Service says 50-year-old Byron Frederick Moose, of O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation, died of his injuries in hospital after the alleged assault on Dugas Street along the Art McOuat Park on Dec. 27.
On Thursday, the WPS homicide unit arrested a woman on Arlington Street in Winnipeg’s West End.

Investigators believe the accused and victim did not previously know but they met at a “mutually known location.” Authorities believe they left together, and the victim was allegedly fatally assaulted by the accused on Dugas Street.
Anissa Pompana was charged with second-degree murder and detained in custody.
The homicide unit is continuing to investigate.
