Winnipeg police have made arrests in connection with two separate stabbings over the weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, officers were called to a North End home on McPhillips Street where they found a woman in her 40s with “significant injuries.” She was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
A suspect was still on scene and taken into custody.
Police say the suspect and victim are related. Investigators believe they were “consuming alcohol for several hours together” at the home when they had an argument.
Madison Traverse, 29, was charged with aggravated assault and failure to comply with the condition of an undertaking. She was detained in custody.
In an unrelated incident, police were called to a home in the Westdale neighbourhood Sunday evening.
Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s with upper-body injuries. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
A 17-year-old male suspect was still on scene and taken into police custody.
Police believe the accused and victim “were related and had been consuming alcohol at the residence when a fight took place and the victim was stabbed.”
A third individual on scene called the authorities.
The accused is facing assault charges and was released.
