A pair of men from Saskatoon are facing charges in connection to an armed robbery on New Year’s Day, Winnipeg police say.
WPS says officers responded to a report from a concerned citizen at around 5 p.m. on Jan. 1, who watched a man jump from a moving vehicle.
The vehicle had a Saskatchewan licence plate, leading WPS to contact RCMP.
Police managed to speak to the man at the scene, learning he was to meet with an acquaintance to sell a pair of high-end shoes.
When the man arrived at the meetup location, he entered the other man’s vehicle to complete the transaction, when another man hiding in the backseat produced a gun.
Then the vehicle began to drive off, and the man selling the shoes managed to escape by jumping from the moving vehicle.
Officers say RCMP in Saskatchewan found the vehicle in question being driven near Whitewood, Saskatchewan, several hours later, and took the two men inside into custody.
Both were turned over to Winnipeg police on Jan. 2, and the two have been charged with armed robbery using a restricted firearm, and forcible confinement.
