In the early hours of Monday morning, a fight broke out in this Winnipeg North End neighborhood.
The altercation claimed the life of 49-year-old Robson Isaac Sinclair, a man described by his daughter as caring, loving and always looking out for others.
“My heart just broke and shattered, because I never got to see my dad in such a long time and now, he’s gone and I didn’t even get to say goodbye to him,” said Janessa, Sinclair’s daughter.

Janessa alleges that her father cut through Stella Walk when he saw a fight break out which led him to intervene.
“He was the type of person that if he sees a fight, or if he’s seen someone getting picked on, he would help that person no matter who it was,” Janessa said. “He was that type of guy.”
Sinclair, a member of Fisher River Cree nation had five children and seven grandchildren.
“I know he was trying to fight for his life because he wouldn’t leave his kids like that knowing that how broken it would make his kids,” says Janessa,
Janessa travelled from Surrey, B.C., this weekend to be with her family. She said she has felt tremendous support from the community.
She says she wants her father to be remembered for his sense of humour.
“He was the funniest guy, always making everyone laugh, the good times, calling everyone punks,” Janessa says. “I want them to remember his goofiness and funniness.”

Sinclair’s death is the 12th homicide in Winnipeg this year.
A 23-year-old man, Elroy Ross, has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated assault and is in police custody. The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
The investigation continues.
