Man charged after assaulting senior outside Winnipeg hospital

Winnipeg police say a 30-year-old man has been charged after an alleged assault at the Seven Oaks General Hospital on Tuesday.

Officers say they responded to a report that a man had been assaulted at the hospital just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 3.

When they arrived, they learned that a 74-year-old man was attacked by an unknown man trying to walk into the hospital’s urgent care entrance.

The victim suffered upper-body injuries and was knocked unconscious during the incident. Following this, the attacker fled on foot.

On Dec. 5, police were later able to find a man believed to be involved while responding to an unrelated incident, and took him into custody.

As a result, 30-year-old Patee Htoo has been charged with assault.

Police also note that Htoo was wanted on an outstanding immigration warrant issued by the Canadian Border Services Agency.
