A 20-year-old man was all set to meet with a woman he met over social media, but ended up being assaulted, tied up, and robbed, Winnipeg police say.
Officers say the man found himself in front of a group of unknown men armed with guns and wearing baseball hats at around midnight on Nov. 4 after arranging a meeting with the woman.
The victim was tied up, assaulted and had his personal belongings stolen, including his keys and car about 300 block of Selkirk Avenue, police say.
However, he was able to escape and later reported the incident.
Police say the victim was injured but did not request medical attention at the time.
The stolen vehicle is still missing and is described as a blue 2011 Chevy Cruze LT Turbo with a Manitoba license plate of LJS 195.
Investigators say the vehicle has a dented driver’s side door, tinted windows, and a spare “donut” tire on the rear passenger side.
The firearm is still missing, with police saying if you see this vehicle not to approach and call 911.
The Major Crimes Unit is continuing this investigation. If you have any information, contact 204-986-6219 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or online.
