Police say a 17-year-old girl is facing charges after a machete attack involving two other teenagers outside a Winnipeg school on Wednesday morning.
The Winnipeg Police Service says it happened around 11 a.m. on St. Mary’s Road near Highfield Street in St. Boniface.
Investigators say a group of teens were involved in a physical fight off the school property when one of them pulled out a machete and struck a 15-year-old and 18-year-old boy. Police say they only sustained minor injures “due to protection of their clothing and backpack” and did not require medical attention.
“School staff intervened and stopped the fight and police were contacted. The accused had fled before police arrived,” WPS said in a news release.
The girl was arrested and taken into police custody Saturday. She is facing two counts of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. She was released on an undertaking.
