Teen, 15, charged in woman’s death on First Nation northeast of Winnipeg

A 15-year-old boy is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with a woman’s death in Manitoba’s Sagkeeng First Nation on Monday.

Powerview RCMP say officers were called to Northshore Road around 12:20 a.m. for the report of an assault. They found the 26-year-old victim at the side of the road and pronounced her dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

Police say they tracked a suspect to a nearby home. The teenager was arrested and charged.

RCMP Major Crime Services is investigating.

Sagkeeng First Nation is about 125 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
