By News Staff

Winnipeg police have released images of three “persons of interest” in the death of 24-year-old Joseph Robert Campbell in Elmwood one year ago.

The Winnipeg Police Service says Campbell was “grievously assaulted” by a group of individuals near Keenleyside Street and Kent Road on Oct. 14, 2023, around 1:20 a.m.

Police arrived to find Campbell injured on the sidewalk. He was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The suspects fled the area, police add.

In the days following the homicide, police say they identified three persons of interest. One year later, they are now sharing photos with members of the public.

“Investigators in the homicide unit believe individuals may still have valuable information that will assist in the investigation,” police said in a news release Tuesday. “The Campbell family would like the investigation resolved to bring peace and closure to their family.”

Anyone with information regarding their identity is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers, 204-786-TIPS (8477) or at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
