13 men charged in connection to exploitations in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police say 13 men have been charged as part of a proactive offender sweep in the city.

WPS says in response to several reports of youth being propositioned in neighbourhoods and online, their Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU) conducted proactive sweeps in several of Winnipeg’s North and West End neighbourhoods.

Between Sept. 27 and Oct. 2, 13 men between 23 to 62-years-old were taken into custody for obtaining sexual services for consideration.

Additionally, 11 vehicles were also seized under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police say several people working in the sex trade were offered community resources, since the arrests were made.

WPS is asking if anyone has any information regarding exploitation, to contact the CEU at 204-986-3464 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.
