Winnipeg police say a student was arrested Monday after a note allegedly threatening students and staff was found in a bathroom at a Winnipeg school.

The Winnipeg Police Service was called to the Winnipeg School Division school around 12:30 p.m.

As officers attempted to locate the individual believed to have written the note, police say school officials initiated lockdown protocols.

Officers arrested the student at 1:07 p.m. on Cecil Street near William Avenue West. School officials subsequently removed lockdown protocols.

The student faces a charge of uttering threats. They were released on an undertaking.

The WPS major crimes unit is investigating.
